Description

The College of Health Professions-School of Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences at Bellarmine University invites applications from qualified candidates for a 12-month faculty position, term or tenure-track eligible, at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level.  This new position will join a department of 16 dynamic core faculty, a diverse team of experienced adjunct clinical faculty, and highly supportive and dedicated administrative staff. Successful candidates will support the University’s vision and mission, commitment to service and hospitality, and the intellectual, ethical and moral development of all students. Preference will be given to those with a strong background in contemporary practice and teaching experience in cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy, wellness, health promotion, and gross anatomy. Preferred ABPTS board specializations include Cardiovascular & Pulmonary, Clinical Electrophysiology, Oncology, Pediatrics, or Wound Management.

Additional Information:

Bellarmine’s DPT core faculty collectively holds 10 ABPTS specialization certifications in four certification areas, are fellowship trained and/or hold terminal degrees.

The DPT Program is proud of  state-of-the-art facilities and extensive curricular integrated service-learning activities and international experiences. The Program is located in a collaborative and collegial environment and is part of the School of Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences in the College of Health Professions. The DPT Program is CAPTE accredited (thru 2024) and receives significant community and administrative support. Additional unique features of the DPT Program include a state-of-the-art human gross anatomy laboratory, seven on- and off-campus service-learning clinics, and two collaborative ABPTRFE accredited residency programs (Neurological and Geriatric).  These residency programs have the potential to be an instrumental component in Louisville as it emerges as the Aging Care Capital of the world.

Requirements

At a minimum the candidate should possess:

  • Terminal academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DHSc, DSc) from an accredited institution, and/or DPT with ABPTS certification. Academic rank and faculty appointment are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Licensure in a United States jurisdiction as a physical therapist and eligible for licensure in Kentucky.
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed scholarship, at a minimum, invited presentations such as poster or platform at professional conferences. Publications in peer-reviewed journals, authorship of books or chapters, and grant activity will be considered as higher forms of peer-reviewed scholarship.
  • Experience teaching in an academic environment, at a minimum as adjunct faculty. Higher consideration may be given to those with previous full-time faculty experience.
  • Experience mentoring students in research, either formally or informally.
  • Experience in facilitating learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds.
