The University of Southern California and the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy invite applications and nominations for the Associate Dean and Chair, Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy.
The Chair is an accomplished leader responsible for elevating and integrating the tripartite missions of a top-ranked, academic physical therapy program - research, education, and clinical practice - amidst the evolving landscapes of science, innovation, technology, and collaboration in the field. They will work to foster innovative care delivery models, thoughtful expansion of clinical services throughout the Los Angeles region and beyond and accelerate high-caliber and impactful translational research efforts. The Chair is responsible for financial performance and sustainability of the Division, including identifying supplemental revenue streams (such as fundraising) to support the Division’s mission. This individual will be expected to attract, retain, and engage high-caliber and diverse faculty, staff, and trainees to sustain the caliber and achievements of the research, teaching and clinical programs that current support the Division’s stellar national reputation.
The ideal candidate is a nationally recognized scholar and leader familiar with the evolving fields of biokinesiology and physical therapy – and the impact of new technology, changing demographics, and dramatic reorganization of the healthcare environment. This individual must be able to build effective partnerships with leaders in the Division, across other health sciences departments, schools and the broader USC community. A leader as well as a manager, the Chair must be a consensus builder, but also capable of serving as an agent of change. The successful candidate will have a passion for excellence and creating an environment conductive to advancing the mission, encouraging shared decision-making, and working in a dynamic, integrated, academic, clinical delivery model.
