Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Department of Surgery, specifically the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, is thrilled to announce an opening for an Assistant Professor of Clinical. This role will report directly to the Division Chief within the Department of Surgery at our organization’s School of Medicine. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon will be responsible for delivering patient care through comprehensive clinical assessments and treatments tailored to meet medical needs. Furthermore, the surgeon will play a vital role in educating patients about wellness, preventive measures, and early detection by providing relevant materials and resources to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:Advance the mission of our healthcare system by contributing to medical education, research, and high-quality patient care.
Engage in international, national, regional, and local initiatives within the healthcare sector that influence the future funding landscape of the Divisional Surgical Areas.
Participate actively in the Oral Surgery Service and residency training programs.
Contribute to significant departmental activities as agreed upon with the Division Chief.
Provide clinical care across all facets of oral and maxillofacial surgery while collaborating with fellow physicians in the division.
Supervise residents at both the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and the Miami Veteran’s Administration Hospital. Additionally, this role involves teaching students in both junior and senior elective programs sponsored by the Division during their surgical training.
Pursue funding opportunities for research protocols under their supervision.
Maintain accurate documentation of all services in patient medical records.
Adhere to departmental policies and hospital bylaws.
Exercise final medical judgment in all healthcare-related matters.
Applicants should possess an outstanding academic background.
Demonstrated teaching abilities and expertise in training residents, fellows, and medical students are essential.
Proficient knowledge of and capability to apply professional medical and dental principles, procedures, and techniques.
Comprehensive understanding of pharmacological agents utilized in patient care.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, complemented by a professional bedside manner.
Conduct oneself in a tactful and professional manner at all times.
A DDS or DMD degree is required for this position.
Candidates must have completed a CODA-accredited advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and be board-certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).
Completion of a Fellowship in Temporomandibular Joint Surgery is mandatory.
Candidates must hold either a Florida Medical or Dental License and possess a DEA certificate.
